Multi-Day Tour
Day 1
Following the east coast down from Edinburgh we visit North Berwick from where a boat trip to the Bass Rock can be enjoyed.
Tantallon Castle on its cliff top location is on our route to Berwick-on-Tweed, that most Scottish of towns - but in England!
Day 2
On now to the heart of the Borders, with its evocative ruined abbeys such as Melrose, Dryburgh, Kelso and the stately homes of Floors and Mellerstane.
Day 3
We continue west by way of St.Mary's Loch to Dumfries and the Solway coast and into Galloway. This quiet south west corner of Scotland is surprisinly beautiful with lochs and mountains we usually asssociate with the Highlands.
Day 4
North to Ayrshire with its many associations with Robert Burns. We can visit the masterpiece of Robert Adam, Culzean Castle and discover President Eisenhower's connetion with the historic castle. We then turn east to the World Heritage Site of New Lanark where we spend the night.
Day 5
A morning discovering the extraordinary village of New Lanark - one of the earliest examples of a planned industrial village. We make a leisurely return to Edinburgh.
