Skye and Loch Ness
Multi-Day Tour

Day 1
We travel by way of Callander and Strathyre and Rob Roy's grave at Balquhidder churchyard.

Desolate Rannoch Moor and Glencoe, with its dramatic scenery and grim history are also on our route.

We reach Loch Leven, the first sea loch on our tour, before arriving at our destination for the night on the shores of Loch Linnhe.

Day 2
Passing Fort William and mighty Ben Nevis, Britain's highest mountain (4,406ft) we head west on "The Road to the Isles" by way of Loch Eil, Glenfinnan, with its memorial to the 1745 Jacobite rebellion, and the White Sands of Morar.

A short ferry crossing from Mallaig takes us to Armadale on Sleat, known as the Garden of Skye, where we stop for the night.

Day 3
Skye is a surprisingly large island and we will spend the whole day exploring.

Among our destinations could be Elgol and the dramatic Cuillin Mountains, Talisker Distillery (the only one on Skye), Dunvegan Castle - home of the Chieftain of Clan Macleod, the strange landforms of the Quirang and Portree, the island's capital.

We spend a further night on Skye.

Day 4
Leaving Skye by way of the Kylerhea/Glenelg Ferry, we cross on one of the last small ferries in the country.

From here we can visit the Glenelg brochs, mysterious iron-age dwellings, before crossing Mam Ratagan pass to the magnificent Loch Duich and Glen Shiel.

We stop at Loch Ness and Fort Augustus on the Caledonian Canal before continuing south along the Great Glen to Spean Bridge and Glen Roy with its "parallel roads" - evidence of Scotland's geological past.

Day 5
Homewards now by way of Dalwhinnie, Blair Atholl, Pitlochry and Scotland's smallest distillery at Edradour.

From Pitlochry we have a choice of routes, depending on your final destination of the day.
